Design your stamp online – self-inking company stamps

A self-inking stamp has the ink pad built into the housing: every time you press, the rubber plate flips from the pad onto the paper and back again. You don’t need a separate ink pad, and the impression is equally strong every time – ideal for lots of impressions in everyday office work.

• Office & accounts: company stamp on invoices, delivery notes, receipts
• Practice & administration: «Received», approval or «Paid» stamps
• Shipping & sales: logo stamp on bags, boxes and till receipts
• Private & clubs: address stamp for post, books and returns

The number of lines depends on the font size. As a guide for clearly legible impressions with a self-inking stamp:

• 38 × 14 mm – up to 3 short lines: name and address, signature stamp
• 47 × 18 mm – up to 4 lines: classic address stamp
• 58 × 22 mm – up to 5 lines: company stamp with phone and e-mail
• 70 × 25 mm – up to 5 lines with larger text or a small logo on the left
• 75 × 38 mm and 60 × 40 mm – company stamp with logo, «Received» or «Paid» stamp with a date field to fill in
• 30 × 30 mm and 40 × 40 mm – square logo stamps, signature box, approval stamp

A company stamp in Switzerland usually contains the company name as entered in the commercial register, the address with postcode and town, and phone or e-mail. Depending on its use, you can add:

• UID number (e.g. CHE-123.456.789) for delivery notes and receipts
• Logo on the left or at the top so the impression is recognised instantly
• Website or QR code – created with one click in the designer; for a reliably readable QR code, allow at least 25 × 25 mm

An address stamp for private individuals contains name, street, postcode and town – handy for returns, club mail or books. A logo stamp without text is ideal for packaging, paper bags, greetings cards or as a brand mark on till receipts.

• Design in a single colour: a stamp prints just one colour with no shades of grey. Gradients, shadows and photos cannot be stamped – convert your logo to a clear black-and-white version.
• Not too fine: lines thinner than about 0.2 mm and very small text fill in when stamping. Keep letter height no smaller than about 2 mm if possible.
• Sans-serif fonts, as used on official stamps, stay legible even at small sizes.
• Go easy on frames: a thin frame looks good but is unforgiving if you stamp at an angle.

Blue is especially popular for company stamps because an original impression is then clearly distinguishable from a black-and-white copy. Red is often used for «Paid», «Urgent» or «Copy».

• Self-inking stamp: if the impression gets faint, simply replace the pad – you can order a spare ink pad at the same time (+CHF 9).
• Cleaning: dab the rubber plate with a damp cloth now and then, especially after stamping on cardboard with paper fibres.
