Translation for information only. Only the German version is legally binding.
In this privacy policy we explain which personal data we process when you visit folie.ch, place orders, request quotes (for example for vehicle lettering) or contact us, why we do so, to whom we disclose data and what rights you have. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data we process
2.1 Visiting the website
Each time a page is accessed, our web server automatically stores technical information in log files: IP address, date and time, the address accessed, the amount of data transferred, the referring page (referrer) and the browser and operating system. We need this information for secure and stable operation, for troubleshooting and to prevent misuse. The logs are usually deleted after about five weeks; they may be retained for longer in backups.
Web statistics: for anonymous visitor statistics we use the open-source software Umami, which runs on our own server. It records the page accessed, the referring page, browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, as well as the country, region and town derived from the IP address. The IP address itself is not stored for this purpose, no cookies are set and no data are transferred to third parties. Multiple page views are only linked by an anonymous identifier that changes monthly; this does not allow us to identify you. We use the statistics to see which content is in demand and to improve the website.
2.2 Orders and customer account
For an order, we record your first name and surname, delivery and billing address, e-mail address, where applicable your telephone number and company, the products ordered with sizes, formats, materials, colours, quantities and designs, the chosen delivery and payment method, and the order and payment status.
If you create a customer account, we also store your login details (the password only in encrypted form) and your order history so that you can view and repeat orders.
2.3 Designs and uploaded files
Images, logos and texts that you upload or create in the designer are stored on our server. This also applies if you transfer a motif to another product in the designer. To protect against misuse, we also store a non-reversible hash of your IP address. Designs without an order are deleted automatically after 30 days. We keep designs from orders because we need them for production, complaints and repeat orders.
Please do not upload images containing personal data of third parties (for example photos of other people) unless you are entitled to do so.
2.4 Quote requests for vehicle lettering
If you request a quote for vehicle lettering via the designer, we process your contact details (name, company, e-mail address, telephone number, address), details of the vehicle (model, colour, number of vehicles), your design with the uploaded logos and images, and your comments. We need these data to review the request, send you a quote, arrange a fitting appointment and carry out the order. Photos of your vehicle that we take at handover (for example to document pre-existing damage) are used only to process the order; we will ask your permission beforehand before using them as reference images.
2.5 Payment
Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay via SumUp: if you choose this payment method, you will be redirected to the SumUp payment page (SumUp Limited / SumUp Payments). You enter your card or wallet details directly with SumUp (or Apple or Google); we do not receive them. We only receive the amount, the order reference, the payment status and the transaction number. SumUp’s privacy policy also applies to processing by SumUp.
Invoice with QR code (payment in advance): we create the invoice in our own accounting system. For this purpose, we transfer your name, address, e-mail address and order items to this system, which runs on our own server. We match the incoming payment with the order.
2.6 Contact and communication
If you e-mail us, call us or use WhatsApp, we process your details (for example name, e-mail address, telephone number and the content of your message) in order to answer your enquiry. If you contact us via WhatsApp, the provider of WhatsApp (Meta) also processes data under its own terms. A WhatsApp link on our website only transfers data to WhatsApp when you click it.
Where a chat window is offered on individual subpages, the following applies: what you enter there is only transferred when you send it, together with a random session ID, to an automation service of Foliencenter GmbH, where it is answered. Please do not enter any sensitive data in the chat.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We process personal data
- to process orders, manufacture and deliver products, process payments and manage customer accounts (performance of a contract; Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR),
- to comply with legal obligations, in particular the retention of business records and accounting vouchers (legal obligation; Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR),
- to answer enquiries, operate the website securely, prevent misuse and assert or defend legal claims (legitimate interest; Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR),
- where you have given your consent, within the scope of that consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future.
We do not use your data for advertising newsletters, we do not sell them and we do not create personality profiles. No automated individual decisions are made.
4. Recipients and processors
We only disclose personal data to the extent necessary for the purposes stated:
- SumUp (SumUp Limited / SumUp Payments) for payments by card, Apple Pay and Google Pay,
- Swiss Post for shipping (name, delivery address and, where applicable, contact details for delivery),
- partner companies that we may involve for individual work steps or large runs, including abroad (EU). They only receive the print data of your design and the order details required for production,
- Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany, as operator of the data centre housing our own server with the website, shop and accounting system,
- authorities and courts, if we are legally obliged to do so or if it is necessary to protect our rights.
Processors may only process the data on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.
5. Disclosure abroad
Our server is located in Germany. Production partner companies may be based in the EU. Under Swiss law, Germany and the other EU member states provide an adequate level of data protection. Payment service providers such as SumUp may also process data in other countries; their own information and safeguards apply there. If we disclose data to a country without an adequate level of data protection, we ensure appropriate protection, for example by means of standard contractual clauses, or rely on a statutory exception, for example the performance of our contract with you.
6. Cookies and local storage
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services. Our own anonymous web statistics (see section 2.1) work without cookies. We load fonts and program libraries from our own server, not from Google or other providers. We do not embed maps; a link to Google Maps only opens the map when you click it.
The shop (WooCommerce) uses its own cookies and similar storage that are necessary for its operation, for example for the basket (woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_…) and for logging in to the customer account (wordpress_logged_in_…). In addition, WooCommerce stores in cookies (sbjs_…) how you arrived at the website (for example directly or via a search engine) and assigns this information to an order. This information stays with us and is not passed on to third parties.
The designer automatically saves your draft from time to time in your browser’s storage (IndexedDB or localStorage) so that it is not lost if the page is reloaded. These data remain on your device until you clear the draft or delete your browser data. You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time; however, the basket and checkout do not work without cookies.
7. Retention and deletion
We only keep personal data for as long as is necessary for the respective purpose or required by law:
- orders, invoices, accounting vouchers and business correspondence: 10 years (Art. 958f CO),
- designs without an order: 30 days; quote requests for vehicle lettering that did not lead to an order: up to 2 years, so that we can refer to them in the event of queries or a later order; designs from orders: as long as they are needed for production, complaints or repeat orders, but no longer than the associated order,
- customer account: until you have it deleted; the order data it contains are retained in accordance with the statutory retention obligation,
- enquiries: as long as necessary for handling them and any follow-up questions,
- server logs: usually about five weeks.
8. Data security
The connection to the website is encrypted (HTTPS). We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we make regular backups. Nobody can guarantee absolute security for transmission over the internet.
9. Your rights
Within the scope of the applicable data protection law, you have the right
- to request information about the personal data we process about you,
- to have inaccurate data corrected,
- to request erasure or restriction of processing, provided no statutory retention obligation prevents this,
- to object to processing based on our legitimate interest,
- to receive your data in a commonly used electronic format or to have them transferred (data disclosure or data portability),
- to withdraw consent you have given at any time with effect for the future.
To do so, please write to info@folie.ch. We may ask for proof of identity. You can also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Switzerland with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU with the data protection authority of your place of residence or work.
10. Changes
We may amend this privacy policy if our services or the legal situation change. The version published on this page applies.
