At folie.ch you design your signs online and see the price as you design: small door and letterbox signs start at CHF 19.–, Alu-Dibond company signs at CHF 29.–. You can choose from six materials – Alu-Dibond, acrylic glass, Forex (PVC), door and letterbox signs, PVC banners and magnetic film – all from 1 piece, in standard formats or in your own size, accurate to the millimetre. Everything is printed in our own workshop in Wallisellen near Zurich and delivered across Switzerland.

Which sign material is right for what?
The choice mainly depends on whether the sign hangs indoors or outdoors, how long it needs to last and how it will be mounted. The overview shows the differences:

In short: if the sign is to hang on the facade for years, choose Alu-Dibond. For a prestigious look indoors, acrylic glass looks more upmarket. Forex is the affordable, lightweight solution for interiors and events. PVC banners are made for large areas on a temporary basis, magnetic signs for advertising you take off the car again in the evening.

How much does a sign cost at folie.ch?
The price depends on material and area and is recalculated instantly in the designer with every change. Starting prices:

If you order several identical signs, the unit price drops automatically – by up to 15 % depending on the material (door and letterbox signs up to 20 % from 25 pieces). There are no set-up costs. Accessories such as drill holes, stainless steel spacers or adhesive pads can be added directly in the designer. All prices are in CHF incl. 8.1 % VAT.
How big does the lettering on a sign need to be?
A common rule of thumb in the sign trade: around 2.5 cm of capital-letter height for every 3 metres of reading distance. So a company sign that needs to be read from the street 10 metres away needs a company name with letters about 8 cm high.
- Door and practice signs (reading distance 1–2 m): name from approx. 1.5 cm, additional lines from approx. 0.8 cm.
- Company sign at the entrance (3–5 m): company name 3–5 cm, format usually 400 × 300 or 600 × 400 mm.
- Construction site sign or PVC banner (10–30 m): just a few words, main line 10 cm or more.
Less text almost always works better. Strong contrast – dark lettering on a light background or the other way round – matters more than any decorative font.
Indoors or outdoors – what should you look out for?
For outdoor use, Alu-Dibond, PVC banners and the small aluminium signs for doors and letterboxes are ideal: they are weatherproof and typically last several years outdoors. Forex copes less well with sun and big temperature swings over time and is meant for indoor use. Acrylic glass is best used indoors or under a canopy.
In many Swiss municipalities, signs and advertising on a facade require a permit, and in rented properties you also need the consent of the property management. Clarify this before ordering – especially for large or illuminated signs.

- Choose the material and set the format or your own size in mm in the online designer.
- Add your text, upload your logo (JPG, PNG or SVG), insert a QR code if needed – the price is always shown alongside.
- Choose accessories such as drill holes or spacers, and order.
- We check every file before printing and get in touch if anything is unclear.
- Production in Wallisellen, usually within a few working days of receiving payment; then shipping or collection.

Frequently asked questions
Which sign is best for outdoors?
For permanent signs on a facade, fence or post we recommend 3 mm Alu-Dibond: weatherproof, dimensionally stable and rust-free. For large areas on a temporary basis, a PVC banner is more affordable.
Can I order a sign in a custom size?
Yes. Besides the standard formats, you can enter any size in millimetres in the designer – up to 3000 × 1500 mm for Alu-Dibond and Forex, and up to 5000 × 2500 mm for PVC banners.
Are signs also available round or with rounded corners?
Alu-Dibond, Forex and door signs come square-cornered, rounded, round or oval. Acrylic glass and magnetic signs are square-cornered or rounded, PVC banners rectangular.
How do I mount my sign?
Depending on the material, with drill holes for screws, with stainless steel spacers or with adhesive pads. You choose the options in the designer; door and letterbox signs come with an adhesive pad as standard, free of charge.
Can I collect the sign in Wallisellen?
Yes, collection from Gewerbehallenstrasse 4 in Wallisellen is free. Please let us know briefly before you come on 044 525 97 69.
Do I get an invoice showing VAT as a company?
Yes, companies receive a proper invoice with VAT shown separately. You can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or QR bill.
