Who benefits from lettering a Ranger?
The Ranger is the towing vehicle and crew car of businesses that work outdoors: gardening and landscaping, forestry and timber firms, carpenters, construction companies, municipal works depots, agriculture, mountain railways and outdoor event companies. It stands on building sites, on forest roads and in farmyards – places where potential customers rarely see a poster, but often see a company vehicle.
Then there’s towing: when your Ranger pulls a trailer, the back of the pick-up is hidden. The doors and load bed sides then carry the whole message – and the trailer’s tailboard ideally gets lettering of its own.
Which areas of the Ford Ranger are suitable?
On the Ranger double cab, the four cab doors and the load bed sides are the most important areas; together they form one side, broken up by the door gaps and the transition to the load bed.
| Area | Special feature | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Front doors | highly visible, at eye level | logo and company name |
| Rear doors | shorter area, gap to the front door | services line or continuation of the name |
| Load bed side | above the rear wheel, often with a wheel arch edge | phone or website |
| Tailgate | embossing and handle depending on version | website in large type, planned around the embossing |
| Bonnet | large, but seen at a steep angle from the front | logo only if it suits your branding |
If your Ranger has a hardtop or a canopy, its side panels offer extra space. Send us photos so we can include the area in the quote.
What do we watch out for with the pick-up shape?
A pick-up is more segmented than a panel van: door gaps, B- and C-pillars, pronounced wheel arches and the transition from cab to load bed split each side into several fields.
- Plan for gaps: a long company name runs across three gaps (front door, rear door, load bed). Better: name on the doors, contact details on the load bed side.
- Wheel arches and fender flares: these plastic parts are usually left bare; vinyl adheres less durably there than on painted metal.
- Spray zone: below the middle of the doors, a pick-up throws up stones and mud off-road, and salt in winter. Lettering belongs in the upper half; colour panels can go lower.
- Tailgate: the handle and, depending on the spec, the camera and embossing are fixed points. We cut the vinyl neatly around them.
- Loading edge: if the load bed is loaded every day, paint protection film is a better choice than lettering on the top edge of the tailgate – find out more at foliencenter.ch.
Design tips for building sites and country roads
A Ranger is often seen from further away than a city van – across a building site or while driving past on a country road. So plan for bold fonts and letters at least 12–15 cm high for the company name.
- High contrast despite dirt: on dark Rangers, white or signal yellow works well; on light ones, black or dark green. Subtle shades disappear under dust.
- Logo on the front door: it’s the area in view when you get out on site.
- Phone number above the rear wheel: people who see a company vehicle out in the field are more likely to call than to type in a website.
- Same design on trailer and vehicle: logo and contact details in an identical style make the combination and the team instantly recognisable as one company.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to letter a Ford Ranger?
Logo and contact details (approx. 1 m² of cut vinyl) cost approx. CHF 400.– incl. fitting and VAT. For your own design, the designer shows the guide price while you design.
Can the tailgate of a pick-up be lettered?
Yes. We plan the design around the handle and any camera or embossing, and cut the vinyl neatly around them.
Does the vinyl hold up off-road and in winter?
Vehicle vinyl is made for outdoor use and typically lasts several years. We place lettering above the spray zone, where stone chips and salt do less damage.
Are the plastic wheel arches covered too?
Usually not. Vinyl adheres less durably to rough plastic parts than to paintwork, so we leave them bare.
Can you letter the hardtop too?
Yes, the side panels of a hardtop make good advertising space. Send us photos so we can include them in the quote.
Do you also letter my trailer to match the Ranger?
Yes, we letter trailers from photos and measurements. That way, vehicle and trailer present a consistent look.
