Who letters an Octavia Combi – and how boldly?
In Switzerland, the Octavia Combi is a widespread fleet car for field staff. It is lettered by Spitex home care and nursing services, property and insurance advisers, IT and customer service technicians, driving schools, security services and sales teams. The question here is less whether to letter it than how boldly:
- Subtle: Logo on the front doors, website on the tailgate. Ideal when the car is parked outside the homes of customers who value discretion – in care or advisory services, for example.
- Medium: Company name across both doors on one side, contact details at the rear. The standard for service companies.
- Eye-catching: Digitally printed colour panels, slogan, large logo. For driving schools or businesses that actively advertise with the car.
Which areas of the Octavia Combi are suitable?
On the Octavia Combi, the side area is split across two doors; the gap between them and the handles determine where lettering can go.
- Front and rear doors: Logo at the front, services or website at the rear. We position a long line of lettering across both doors so that the gap falls between two words.
- Rear wings: A small, calm area above the rear wheel – good for a phone number or QR code.
- Tailgate: Below the rear window there is room for website and phone on one line; the number plate and model badge stay clear.
- Rear side windows and rear window: Cut vinyl lettering along the edge of the glass is possible. The windscreen and front side windows always stay clear for visibility.
- Bonnet: A logo on the bonnet is seen in the rear-view mirror of the car in front – more of an option for eye-catching designs.
Special features: sharp lines and curved doors
The Octavia has a sharply drawn character line at door-handle height and a second, softer edge further down; in between, the doors curve slightly inwards.
- Text between the lines: The area between the upper edge and the lower swage line is the best zone for lettering. Letters across a sharp edge look broken when the light hits them.
- Handles: The vinyl is cut out around the door handles, so plan logos slightly in front of or behind them.
- Smaller areas: A car has less surface than a van. What is 25 cm high on a Sprinter will be more like 8–12 cm on the Octavia.
- Paint colour: Fleet cars are often white, silver or grey. On silver, lettering needs a strong, dark shade for enough contrast.
Design tips for company estate cars
On an estate car, lettering works best when it follows the vehicle’s side line: horizontal, one main line, clear spacing from gaps and handles.
- Website instead of a long contact list: On a vehicle length of 4.69 m, a short domain is the most effective element.
- Consistent across the fleet: Same position, same size on every car – it looks organised and, thanks to the volume discount, lowers the price per vehicle.
- Think about private use: If your employee also drives the car privately, a subtle version is usually more welcome. For purely temporary use there are magnetic signs from CHF 29.–.
- Leasing fleets: Vinyl is removable and protects the paint – an advantage over a respray when the car goes back.

How much does lettering a Škoda Octavia Combi cost?

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to have a Škoda Octavia Combi lettered?
Logo and contact details (approx. 1 m² of cut vinyl) cost approx. CHF 400.– including fitting and VAT. The designer instantly shows the guide price for your design.
Are you allowed to letter a car’s side windows?
The windscreen and front side windows stay clear so that visibility isn’t restricted. Rear side windows and the rear window carry at most a line of lettering along the edge.
How subtle can company car lettering be?
A logo on the front doors and the website on the tailgate are often enough. That is affordable and looks discreet – for care or advisory services, for example.
Does the template also fit the Octavia from 2024?
The online template shows the Octavia Combi 2019–2024. We letter the facelifted model and older generations based on photos.
Can we have a whole field-sales fleet lettered?
Yes. With a consistent design you get a discount: 5 % from 2, 10 % from 5 and 15 % from 10 vehicles with identical lettering.
Is vinyl on a leased company car a problem?
No. Vehicle vinyl is removable and protects the paint underneath. When the vehicle is returned, it can be taken off again.
