Who drives a Vito – and what should the lettering achieve?
The Vito is the vehicle for businesses that need plenty of load space but care about a polished appearance: service technicians for coffee machines, lifts or IT, florists and caterers, pharmacy and delivery services, as well as hotels and shuttle operators. Its low height means it fits into many underground car parks and multi-storeys – so it often stands in town, where lots of people walk past.
That leads to the key design principle: on the Vito, lettering can be understated and precise. It should look like the company car of a premium service provider, not like a billboard.
Which areas of the Vito extra-long are worth using?
On the Vito extra-long, the rear side panel between the sliding door or B-pillar and the tail light is the most valuable area: long, flat and at eye level.
| Area | What works well there |
|---|---|
| Rear side panel | company name on one line, with a short line of services below |
| Sliding door | logo; on the Vito, sliding doors on both sides are also possible |
| Front doors | small logo or website, discreetly below the window |
| Tailgate or barn doors | website and phone, generously spaced from the handle and number plate |
| Front | usually best left clear – the star and grille define the front |
If you drive a Vito Mixto or Tourer with side windows, the lettering moves below the window line. The design is easy to adapt in the designer; photos of your vehicle help us with the quote.
Special features: soft surfaces, fine lines, lots of gloss
The Vito’s bodywork has shallower swage lines than large vans, but instead a continuous shoulder line at door-handle height and gently curved side panels.
- Shoulder line as an axis: Lettering just above or below this line looks calm. Right on the edge, the light visually breaks the text into two halves.
- Curved surfaces: We lay large digitally printed graphics so that they follow the curve. Fine lines and frames are trickier there than lettering.
- Sliding door rail: The guide rail on the rear side panel interrupts the surface; text should end before the rail or run clearly below it.
- Dark paint: Many Vitos are black, grey or dark blue. Here, white or silver cut vinyl looks classy and costs less than a printed graphic.
Design tips: high-end yet readable
Even discreet Vito lettering needs a company name at least around 12 cm high, otherwise it is no longer readable from about 30 m away.
- Fewer elements, more white space: Logo, name, website – three elements with plenty of space between them look more upmarket than ten details.
- One accent colour: Your company colour as a fine stripe along the shoulder line, the rest in white or black.
- Fonts with a strong stroke: Elegant but overly thin fonts disappear in the gloss of the paint. Choose a font with a clear stroke weight in the designer.
- Same layout on every vehicle: If several Vitos drive for you, a consistent design pays off – not least because of the volume discount of 5 % from 2, 10 % from 5 and 15 % from 10 vehicles.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to have a Mercedes Vito lettered?
Lettering with logo and contact details (approx. 1 m² of cut vinyl) costs approx. CHF 400.– including fitting and VAT. You see the guide price for your own design instantly in the designer.
Does the template also fit the compact or long Vito?
The online template is the Vito extra-long from 2024. We also letter compact and long versions as well as older models based on photos.
Can I also have a Vito Tourer with windows lettered?
Yes. The lettering then goes below the window line and on the doors and rear. The windscreen and front side windows stay clear.
Does lettering look good on a black Vito?
Yes, especially with white or silver cut vinyl. On dark paint, a pared-back design with plenty of free space looks high-end.
Can I have the eVito lettered in the same way?
Yes. For lettering purposes the bodywork is the same; we leave the charging flap clear so that it opens normally.
How long does fitting take on the Vito?
Depending on the scope, lettering is often done within one day. We arrange the appointment in our workshop in Wallisellen after your quote request.
