Why the Transit Custom makes a great advertising vehicle

The Transit Custom is short enough for Zurich’s residential streets and parking bays, yet its side panels are almost as tall as those of larger vans – giving you plenty of advertising space on a short length. Since the 2023 generation, its shape has become more angular and striking, which further emphasises clear, graphic lettering.

Typical businesses with a Transit Custom:

  • building services, ventilation and air conditioning with service technicians
  • cleaning and caretaking companies
  • bakeries, butchers and delivery services in town
  • small trade businesses commuting between customers and the workshop

Which areas of the Transit Custom are suitable?

On the Transit Custom, the upper half of the side panels has the most impact: this area sits at the eye level of pedestrians and drivers, and it’s largely smooth.

  • Rear side panel: company name and services. On the driver side, the panel without a sliding door is the calmest area.
  • Sliding door, right: logo or image; we plan the door gaps into the design.
  • Driver and passenger doors: medium-sized logo below the window, often with the website.
  • Rear: barn doors or a tailgate depending on the version – phone number and website large, centred and in strong contrast.
  • Front: the bonnet is short and steep; lettering above the windscreen is easier to read than on the bonnet.

Shape details: lines, swage lines and handles

The sides of the current Transit Custom have pronounced character lines and a strong edge above the wheel arches; these lines are the natural boundaries of your design.

  • Use character lines as a frame: a colour stripe that follows a panel edge exactly looks factory-fitted. A stripe that cuts across it at an angle looks restless.
  • No text in recesses: vinyl is worked into swage lines, but small letters lose legibility there. Lettering belongs on the smooth areas.
  • Handles and sliding door rail: we keep lettering clear of door handles and the sliding door rail – colour panels can go right up to the edge.
  • Electric and plug-in versions: charging flaps are left bare or neatly cut out.

Design tips for short vans

On a vehicle length of 5.05 m, a company name of up to around 15 characters fits on one line without becoming too small – longer names are better set on two lines.

  • Size over quantity: the company name on the side panel should be a good 15 cm high. Two services rather than five.
  • Website instead of address: a short domain is quicker to read and remember than street, postcode and town.
  • Logo towards the front: the logo belongs towards the front of the vehicle and the contact details towards the back – that way both sides read in the direction of travel, and the rear carries the message on.
  • Consider the vehicle colour: Ford vans are often white, blue or grey. On grey, mid-tones lack contrast; go for white or a strong yellow/orange.

You can try out these variations directly in the designer: design your Transit Custom.

How much does Ford Transit Custom lettering cost?

Logo and contact details on approx. 1 m² of cut vinyl cost approx. CHF 400.– incl. fitting and VAT. The guide price packages at the top of the page show how the price develops with a larger area, for example with lettering on both sides and the rear. For a complete design with digital print on all sides, you’ll receive a binding quote after your enquiry.

We also letter older Transit Customs (up to 2022), the long version or the larger Transit from photos. To change the colour of the whole vehicle, a full wrap is the right solution – see foliencenter.ch.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to have a Ford Transit Custom lettered?

Lettering with logo and contact details (approx. 1 m² of cut vinyl) costs approx. CHF 400.– incl. fitting and VAT. The designer instantly shows the guide price for your own design.

Does the template also apply to the Transit Custom before 2023?

The online template is the short version from 2023. We also letter older models and the long version – just send us photos of all sides.

Can I also letter the electric E-Transit Custom?

Yes. For lettering purposes the body is practically the same; we leave the charging flaps bare so they can still be opened.

How much text fits on the side of a Transit Custom?

Company name, one line of services and website or phone are easy to read. More text makes the lettering smaller and unreadable from a distance.

Do I need to bring the van in for fitting?

Yes, fitting takes place in our workshop in Wallisellen. Ideally, bring the vehicle washed and without a fresh layer of wax.

Is there a discount for several Transit Customs?

Yes, for identically lettered vehicles: 5 % from 2, 10 % from 5 and 15 % from 10 vehicles.
